Born in Argentina, Rubén was a successful recording artist and made the move to Canada in 1981. Rubén’s career includes over twenty years playing the Toronto-Montreal music scene, notably The Montreal Jazz festival, Festival Nuit d’Afrique , Harbour Front Jazz Festival, Jazz & Blues Festival in Chicoutimi (Quebec).
He’s appeared on CBC radio and CBC television programs like Radio Jazz Live, including performances with Chantal Joly, and Festival Montreal en Lumière. Rubén is a recording engineer and owner of Studio La Klave, producing music for short documentaries, theatre pieces (Anne of the Tropics) co-produced with Keith Thomas, and school plays.
In 2014, he was the recipient of the Niagara Music Award for Producer of the Year, recognizing his work with Latin-Pop project The Rio Trio. The recordings garnered the band seven nominations, winning in two categories.
Rubén currently resides in Niagara Falls with his wife Sylvie and is a consummate professional in the industry. He enjoys playing live regularly across the Niagara Region as a solo artist and as part of the duo “R&R”, with vocalist Geneviève-Renée Bisson.
